Welcome to Rice plus Project

For twenty five years, the Kolar's have opened up their home to many volunteers who joyfully assembled portioned rice and bean packages for families in need. Beginning August, 2013, the Rice Bagging Party will move to Vista Lobos Room in Carmel. Directions

Help us, Help others. We'd like to feed more needy families. With increased contribution amounts we can grow our efforts to provide food to more who have so little.

We invite you to explore our new website and learn more about who we are and what we do. We hope you'll be inspired to join us as we make a difference in the lives of others.

With contributions of both funds and volunteer service we are able to gather each first Sunday of the month to bag rice and beans, and arrange for other staple goods to be disbursed among families in need. This entire care given process all takes place within a 48 hour period. In addition, we use part of the donations to provide warm clothing and blankets during the colder months. During the Christmas season contributions also assist in providing gifts for underprivileged children and teens.
The Rice plus Project focuses on assisting underprivileged families in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. Each month your generous donations help to feed families who might otherwise not have the necessary means to survive. We encourage your helpful donations be given through our trusted contributions management services: NetworkForGood.org or JustGive.org or you can mail a check to: P. O. Box 1264 Carmel, CA 93921.
The Rice plus Project is a humanitarian non-profit charitable organization that feeds, clothes, and helps to promote aid to those who are burdened without basic nutritional and essential living necessities. Volunteers come from all parts of the community; some are highly paid professionals, and others are success stories that have received help from this organization through the years. Collaborative efforts are everyone’s concern as volunteers equally share the passion to serve the less fortunate.
Unlike adults who can more easily endure eating less it is vital that the farmworker’s children receive good nutrition for healthy development.  The kids receive some nutrition as they attend school and receive weekday lunches, but most go hungry the rest of the time. For these families the seasons regulate when and how they can work to provide for themselves and their children. The Rice plus Project is devoted to providing the help they need with nutritional essentials they and their children often go without otherwise.

Rice Bagging Party

"A Rice Bagging Party"
On the first Sunday of every month we have a Rice & Beans bagging party at Noon in the Vista Lobos Room in Carmel. Those who gather at the event help bag rice and beans into family-sized portions. People from the community come together to donate either their time or skills. We also distribute warm blankets, shoes and jackets to those less fortunate.
